About · Bookwren

An AI Gmail Accountantbuilt by people who close the books.

Bookwren started with a frustration every self-employed bookkeeper has lived: receipts land in Gmail, charges hide in subscription notices, and the month-end close is a stack of manual reconciliation. We built Bookwren to read the inbox the way a bookkeeper does, and to hand back a ledger that is already accountant-ready.

Why we exist

Small teams and freelancers run their businesses out of an inbox, not a spreadsheet. But the tools built for bookkeeping assume a perfectly reconciled feed of transactions — and that feed doesn't exist on day one. Bookwren watches Gmail for the receipts, invoices, and subscription charges that already tell the story of your business, extracts the merchant, amount, and date, and drops them on the right Schedule C line.

The result is a categorized ledger from the moment you connect your inbox — and a monthly close packet your accountant can open without re-keying anything. We're building the bookkeeping layer for the inbox-first generation of freelancers, sole proprietors, and the bookkeepers who serve them.

How Bookwren reads your inbox

Every charge lands in your Gmail long before it lands in your ledger. Bookwren classifies that charge at the inbox layer — matching it against the IRS Schedule C categories your accountant already uses, surfacing duplicate subscriptions, flagging price creep, and assembling the close packet at the end of every month.

We don't replace your accountant — we hand them a packet that's already done. No more re-keying receipts, no more hunting for the renewal you forgot to cancel, no more end-of-month scrambles to figure out what the books should say.
